Signing Academic Cooperation Agreement between State Security and AUB

The Director General of State Security, Major General Tony Saliba, and the President of the American University (AUB), Dr. Fadlo Khuri, signed an academic cooperation agreement during a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Directorate in Ramlet Al-Baida. Deputy Director General, Brigadier General, Samir Sannan, AUB Academic Affairs Provost, Dr. Mohamed Harajli, academics from the University and a number of officers attended the ceremony. The agreement with AUB included facilitations granted to state security officers and staff.
The ceremony started with the Lebanese National Anthem, followed by the American University and State Security anthems, and then Dr. Fadlo Khuri delivered a speech in which he praised the role of the General Directorate of State Security in maintaining security and stability. Dr. Khuri said that the University considered providing all the possible knowledge and capabilities within the framework of a nation-building and man-making integrated plan.
For his part, Major General Saliba spoke of his constant endeavor to develop and strengthen the Directorate at the logistics and professional levels as well as his keenness to raise the level of performance and professionalism of its members, which enabled it to prove its worth and has thus become an essential pillar in the security community, despite the limited capabilities in terms of personnel and means.
He added that through this agreement with the prestigious American University, we look forward to raising the cultural and academic level of officers and staff which will support them in performing their tasks.
At the end, Major General Saliba and Dr. Khuri exchanged appreciation shields.
